I went to Denver again for work and stayed right outside of city limits. I'm convinced that Rocky Mountain sunrises are one of my favorite things!

Treats N Sweets

During my travels these past few weeks I've had some delicious food! I took some pics of a few of my favorites.

OK, so this isn't EDIBLE food, but I couldn't resist snapping a shot of this Body Shop vending machine at the Fort Lauderdale airport. Can I have one of these in my house?

Some lovely fresh fruit in Ft. Lauderdale

Scrumptious chocolates in Orlando (kind of fuzzy - iPhone pic)

I was so impressed with this lunch presentation at the Hilton Orlando. It's the chef's version of a "Bento Box." The top shelf had three different types of veggie/pasta salads, the middle is a sliced chicken breast, parmesan chip, green beans, an arugula salad wrapped in cucumber, and the cone was filled with berry marmalade and goat cheese (OMG SO GOOD), the bottom shelf has hummus, pesto and olives. Of course, since I don't eat chicken, the chef was kind enough to bring me a vegetarian plate with avocado instead of chicken.

The same chef from Hilton Orlando made this stunning dessert sampler. He used a votive holder to place the creative! From left to right is: flourless chocolate cake with peppermint creme, cheesecake with strawberry/orange marmalade and graham cracker crumb, pecan pie with white chocolate, berries and zabione, and some type of German chocolate cake. Delicious!

Somewhere...Beyond the Sea

I traveled to Hollywood, Florida for work this week to check out the Westin Diplomat as a potential venue for a future conference. It's a beautiful property and was decked out for Christmas! The lobby resembles a conservatory with colorful orchids blooming everywhere; an interesting contrast to the frigid winter wind outside. My room on the 27th floor had a great view of the gorgeous turquoise ocean. The infinity pool is another highlight at the Diplomat and gives swimmers an oceanfront feel. I'd love to vacation in Hollywood!

Family Time

My wonderful grandparents & mom came to visit last weekend and we had a wonderful time!

We went to Michael Hamlin-Smith's open house displaying his latest pottery collection...BEAUTIFUL!

Stopped by Southpark Mall where I finally bought some delicious herbal tea from Teavana. The salespeople are REALLY good and talked me into spending more that I wanted, but the tea is wonderful. You can really tell a difference between loose tea vs. tea bags!

We had a delicious dinner at Campania Cafe & Trattoria in Davidson, NC and a FABULOUS lunch the next day at Something Classic Cafe. The highlight of the weekend was our visit to see the Christmas lights at the Nascar Speedway. Not only do they have an amazing amount of lights, but visitors can actually drive their car on the track on the way out! I wanted to go really fast, but my mom's SUV wasn't able to handle the steep turn on the track. It was a great weekend!

O Tannenbaum!

We put up a few holiday decorations around the place, very cheery!

Our cute little bird tree

I love this ornament!

The only non-bird ornament.

Hot-Lanta is Cold!

I just got back from a short business trip to Atlanta, Georgia. I love that city! I was shocked at how cold it was, but still had a wonderful stay.

I stayed at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Atlanta. It's such a beautiful hotel, and definitely one of my favorites! It has 50 stories and an open center where you can look straight up!

This is the view from my room on the 42nd floor...gorgeous!

We visited Max Lager's Wood Fired Grill & Brewery for dinner. I had a delicious arugula salad that came with a piece of fried goat cheese and the most AMAZING heirloom tomato vinaigrette for the dressing. The pizza I had was just OK. BUT I ordered a side skewer of shrimp and it was incredible. I wish I had just ordered the salad with 10 skewers of shrimp!

Random shot from the Pulse lobby bar. I like the shapes in this one. Happy weekend!

Mixed Bag

I'm loving these face-to-face animal shots by photographer Stefano Unterthiner.

I would love to have one of these mystical paintings by artist Jacek Yerka. What an imagination!

I want to go here! There are some beautiful waterfalls in the Havasu Canyon, Arizona. This area has a deep history and is pretty tough to get to. According to this tourist guide, you must arrive on foot or horse. Sounds fun!

Time Flies...

Time sure does fly when you're having fun. I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving break. Jer and I were lucky enough to get two celebrations, one with each family! I can't believe it's almost December, I wish time would slow down a bit. Here are some pics from the break.

My in-laws' new Visla, Sam, he is such a sweetie!

Sam and Murph became instant buddies.

Reminders that Christmas is just around the corner!

Jer got some love from T-bone.

Delicious dinner at my Grandparent's house.

"Hey, Hey, What is Going On Here?"

This is my favorite quote from Richard Belding, Principal of Bayside High (1989-1933). These photos will tell you a little bit about what has been going on HERE!

I celebrated with my classmates in Event Planning Certification Class by having a "potluck" dinner during our final presentations. This delicious red velvet and cream cheese icing cupcake was made by Alan, of Two Guys N A Kitchen.

A new bar opened in Birkdale called the Kilted Buffalo. The owner is a Marshall University alumni and named the bar after the Thundering Herd. Notice the Marshall helmet on the fridge (left)?

The bar also has Shuffleboard...and a salon! It doubles as a men's grooming parlor.

Met up with some friends for dinner and DOMINATED at Mellow Mushroom Trivia Night! We ended up winning free beer, gift certificates, and other goodies!

I Love Cyclops

I love cyclops. I think they're totally adorable. According to Wikipedia, "In Greek mythology and later Roman mythology, a cyclops was a member of a primordial race of giants, each with a single eye in the middle of its forehead." Here is a collection of cyclops that are sure to brighten your day.
