Weekend Shots

What a wonderful weekend! I spent it at home, with my sweet husband and pup. We saw Super 8 and it's really awesome. Total "Goonies with aliens" feel. Here are some other shots from the weekend!

Fresh green beans!

Finally found out what color our crepe myrtle is...Love it!

Celebrated my neighbor's 88th birthday!

Summer strawberries...so good!

Even better on this tasty yogurt cake I made, with fresh whipped cream too!

Got to relax some too!

I'm looking forward to the upcoming long weekend. Is it really almost the 4th of July? Wow!

For the Love of Jars #5

How awesome is this? Meaghan Mountford from The Decorated Cookie created the ideal meal for travel...in mason jars! This would be perfect for a picnic. Oh, how I love jars!

Make or Bake #1: Healthy Cookies

In an effort to watch TV less in the evenings, I've decided to start a little project called "Make or Bake" where I either do something creative or bake something new. Last night I tried out Nikki's Healthy Cookies Recipe from the blog 101 Cookbooks.

Unfortunately, the cookies turned out somewhat bitter. I used olive oil instead of coconut oil, and kosher salt instead of sea salt so perhaps that was a mistake. I'm also wondering if my bananas were a bit on the small size. I used three like the recipe says, but forgot to see if it measured up to 1.5 cups. I can tell they would taste awesome if made correctly, so I'm gonna try try again! They are better with a bit of honey. I found this recipe, which is similar, so I might try it instead.

Pizza Time!

Last week I was in California for work. I didn't get to take many pictures but managed to snap this one of a delicious delivered dinner! Thin crust Margarita Pizza with a spinach salad topped with cranberries, candied walnuts, gorgonzola and the yummiest balsamic dressing! I had this salad twice while I was there! Pizza is definitely my weakness...

Go Strawless!

I was so impressed when I heard 9-year-old Milo Cress on NPR. He started his own non-profit, Be Straw Free, to encourage people and businesses to discontinue the use of wasteful and environmentally harmful plastic straws. Milo wants businesses to ask if customers want a straw, instead of just giving them away with every drink. According to his research, "the USA distributes 500 million straws per day, enough to fill over 46,400 school buses!" So next time you're grabbing a drink-to-go, pass on the straw!

These straws are reusable and dishwasher safe! Great to keep around the house, in the car, or for a gift!

Antique-O-Rama

I went to an awesome antique show a couple weeks ago and these are some cool things I saw.

A table full of junk!

I dig this cash register

A shelf full of those awesome cartoon character glasses

I wonder who carried this in their lunch box?

Adorable table!

Can I please have everything here?

I bought this frame to turn into a chalkboard. The seller said it is circa turn-of-the-century...I'm not so sure about that, but it sounds cool!

Remembering Gracie Girl

I'm sad to say that Gracie the beagle passed away Saturday, June 11. This is in memory of her.

I've never met a sweeter soul.

Ten years ago, my best friend Jess saw Gracie at the pound and couldn't resist her cuteness!
Three years later, she also adopted Pez, and they fell in love...

I mean REALLY in love

We all made some wonderful memories in this house

Gracie had a great smile

And taught me how important it is to relax!
She always watched out for our safety

And looked AMAZING in hot pink

She could sing too! Her favorite song? Walkin' On Sunshine...I swear her tail always wagged like crazy when I sang it to her.

She was a beautiful dog and friend.
Gracie and Pez will always have a special place in my heart.

Wonderful Words

In my Moleskine, I keep a list of words that I love so I've decided to make visual representations to go with the definitions! This is a pic from my recent beach trip. I was very excited to discover the word Petrichor because I've always adored the fresh scent in the air when it starts to rain. The wikipedia definition says that "petra is Greek for stone and -ichor is the fluid that flows in the veins of the Gods of Greek mythology."

Weekend Shots

I had such a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Here are some shots:

Saw this spider on my door. I'm not sure what it is, should I be worried? It has a heart shape on it's bum! I caught him in an old pickle jar and took him to a tree far from my place!

Threw out the first cornhole bag on the new boards!

Admired some pretty fingernails

Had a MESS of food!
Had a fabulous weekend with some of my favorite ladies!
