Murphy in the Morning

For the past couple of months Murphy has been coming to work with me. I love having the little guy around! He sleeps, sniffs around, and gives me puppy kisses when needed. When he was a pup, Murphy was awake at 6 am, jumping on us, licking get the gist. Now, at 5-years-old, we have to coax him awake with lots of petting and promises of breakfast. On cold mornings he shivers when we get into the car so I've started wrapping him up in a blanket on the way to work. He falls into a morning stupor, somewhere between awake and asleep, and it's too cute. I snapped a couple pics this week. Happy weekend everyone!

Paper Memories

For years, I've saved greeting cards, notes, concert and event tickets, and other random paper memories in a plastic box and vintage suitcase with the promise to "do something cool with them someday." Last weekend I FINALLY went through them. My fear, prior to beginning this project, was the potential for overwhelming emotion. And it was. But instead of being sad, I felt nostalgic, happy, and most of all thankful.

As I shuffled through the cards, dividing them by holidays, thank yous, and randoms, my heart was warmed and humbled by the things I read. Support, encouragement, and heartfelt advice poured off the parchment. Sweet notes from my mom, grandparents, aunt and uncle, friends, and even one from my great grandmother who passed nearly 20 years ago. I discovered that the cards are kind of like a journal from the outside. Stories from the card-givers reminded me of where I was, who I was, and even more important, who I have become; How important it is to remember how lucky I am to have such a beautiful group of family and friends in my life.

A word of advice for your next card-giving experience: Write the date. For us card savers, this small piece of information is invaluable.

My mom and I went to a HUGE antique fair recently. It's the same one I always go to, but this was the "holiday extravaganza" definitely lived up to the name! We decided to make a day of it next time and take some breaks so we can see everything. All the walking worked up an appetite so we headed to Pure Pizza, a new spot that uses all local ingredients and serves local honey with their pies for crust dipping! I got arugula microgreens on my pie, and it was fabulous!

My 12-year-old self would have given anything for this box of trolls!

Just a little creepy...

Bugs Lately

Insects fascinate me. I always pull for random bugs who end up on my windshield while I'm driving, "hang on!" A couple weeks ago, a huge fuzzy black spider held on for three hours with me going 70...impressive! Praying mantis are so cool and robotic; they totally intimidate me!
