Recipeats: Chili Lime Cashews

One of my favorite bloggers is doing the Whole30 diet and keeps mentioning chili lime cashews. Naturally this caused me to have an insatiable craving for spicy-limey-crunchy nuts! I found this recipe, stopped by the store for goods, and 45 minutes later I had these delicious crunchwads! They're so good I have to practically slap my hand away from the jar. I didn't realize how easy it is to flavor nuts. I want to try something sweet next time.

Airlie Gardens

Visiting Airlie Gardens in Wilminton, NC feels like stepping into the past. Four-hundred-year-old Giant Oaks draped in Spanish moss dot the landscape and provide the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of life. Sculptures and artistic landscaping complement the natural, and most beautiful, aspects of the gardens. The butterfly garden is quiet and fluttery. An old church with an ancient cemetery rests along the walk around the property. There's an adult-sized playhouse made of recycled glass bottles. It's a perfect afternoon getaway!

Easter at the Beach

The day was filled with good food, lots of sweets, and plenty of beach. I'm so grateful for family time in Carolina Beach!

Beach Hiatus

I spent last week at the beach with my family. It was absolutely wonderful. As a result, I ended up taking an unplanned hiatus from blogging. The beach house didn't have wireless and I most certainly did not want to spend my time in a coffee house typing away. I think breaks are good sometimes. I tend to stress myself out about staying on the Monday-Wednesday-Friday blogging schedule so it was nice to just take a step back. My days were filled with beautiful sunshine, delicious food, family chats and reminiscing, and the gorgeous ocean on the horizon. Currently, I'm going through my photos and fighting a "can I go back to the beach" depression. However, I'm so thankful for that perfect week with my family! Happy Wednesday!

I've Officially Jumped...

I've officially jumped on the Project Life bandwagon! My mom got me started with a binder and some pages for my birthday, and I couldn't be more excited! In case you haven't heard about Project Life, it's a creative new scrapbooking technique that involves pages with various layouts and inserts for placing photos, stories, etc. It's all color coordinated with special paper and embellishments for each binder family. I got the Turquoise edition. Last weekend I did my first layout and it was so much fun. I've been following Elise Blaha's progress on her Project Life and am totally inspired by her creativity. These are some shots from my first Project Life experience.

My favorite pens...Pilot G2. So smooth and nice!

This paper cutter came in handy!

First layout complete!

The Fabric

I can't even begin to describe my surprise when I opened a birthday present from my friend Abby last week. It's one of the sweetest most thoughtful gifts I've received. She took my illustrations from various blog posts, contacted my husband for more of my drawings, projected them onto a large piece of fabric, and hand traced them on the fabric with a marker! The result is a glorious collection of my goofy little illustrations. I love it! Now I just have to think of a BRILLIANT way to use it! What do you think? Pillows? Wall hanging? I wish I could quilt b/c I think it would make a marvelous comforter. Thank you so much Abby!

Smile! It's Kittens!

Last weekend I got to photograph some kittens from Catering to Cats and Dogs. Although I do prefer the company of dogs to cats, these little fur balls had me "ooo-ing" and "awww-ing" the whole time. Kittens are just so sweet and curious! These were some of my favorite shots. If you're interested in any of these fuzzy babies be sure to contact Catering to Cats and Dogs!

This is Charlotte, not a kitten, but those eyes! Wow!

This tongue shot cracks me up!

Little miss Allie lost her eye due to an infection, but no worries, she's doing just fine now!
